Bayberry is an evergreen shrub with narrow leaves, small yellow flowers and waxy grey berries. Bayberry root has a pine like scent.

Herbalists use bayberry for bacterial infections, colds, coughs, sore throats, strengthening resistance to infection, and for treating ulcers and sores.

Bayberry was featured in a 1737 account by North American settlers who stated that the plant helped all manner of disorders from colds to convulsions.
